Help Them Grow or Watch Them Go: Career Conversations Employees Want

This On-Demand event was originally presented on June 22, 2016 (60 min)

Do your managers know what their employees are passionate about? They should. Because in order to sustain an optimum level of performance, there must be a link between employee passion and what the organization needs to grow. Research suggests that high engagement occurs when individuals are positively challenged, find their work to be meaningful, and believe their managers truly care about their growth. That’s why it’s vitally important for managers to have regular, ongoing career development discussions with their employees.

Perhaps your managers claim they just don’t have the time to do it. Or maybe they don’t know how. Sound familiar?

An internationally recognized authority on career development training, Lynn Cowart will share her expertise, offer proven methods, and provide practical techniques your managers can employ to support their employees’ careers. We guarantee you will leave with specific action steps to make an immediate difference—even in today’s time-starved, priority-rich work environment.

Attendees will learn

  • Discover how to coach managers to move beyond the myths that prevent them from engaging in career development.
  • Gain insight from business-case examples and learn how to apply it to current organizational challenges.
  • Understand how to use survey data to build a presentation that will influence managers and senior leadership to engage in career conversations.
  • Learn how to replace the career-ladder model and apply a new “climbing-wall” metaphor.
