The hallmark of great leadership is the ability to create a compelling vision to inspire and motivate others. Successful leaders think two moves ahead, are mindful of significant trends that will impact business outcomes, and adapt and adjust plans based on anticipated changes. Future orientation can be a challenge for HR leaders mired in tactical challenges, yet it is essential to be considered a credible business leader.

Presenter

Dr. Alice Waagen, Ph.D., is president of Workforce Learning LLC, a management consulting company that provides business leaders with the skills and knowledge they need to build organizations that are productive and healthy. Alice is passionate about helping her corporate clients and the missions that they serve. She strives to make every engagement produce tangible value by helping business executives discover better, faster, and more efficient ways to lead their workforces to business success.

Alice’s clients include Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit organizations, trade associations, and government agencies. She has built her expertise in knowing what behaviors and actions yield success for business leaders, managers, and teams. Alice’s common sense approach to solving managerial and leadership challenges can be found in her weekly column in the American Cities Business Journal.

Alice earned a PhD in education from Pennsylvania State University. Giving back to the community is also important to Alice. She serves on the board of the Northern Virginia Employer Advisory Committee (NVEAC) and also is a videoconference instructor for the Smithsonian American Art Museum Artful Connections Program.
