Emotional intelligence (EI) is how we interpret the rules that control our emotions. So why is it that when we hear the term emotional intelligence, we immediately think of the brain? The brain is not always our best friend. We cannot always trust it, and it can be a storage center for toxic waste and old patterns.
Now, what do we think of when we see the heart? Chances are, we think about love, compassion, empathy, all values that have nothing to do with the brain.
The ego, on the other hand, is shaped by the past, the environment, our culture, and our upbringing. It identifies with “things.”
